Welcome to Mt. Pleasant Integrative Medicine! Founded in 2017 by Demetrios Papadopoulos MD, this practice provides Medical Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine consultations. Dr. Papadopoulos retired from a “traditional” medical practice in 2016 after practicing Family Medicine for thirty-seven years at Mt. Pleasant Family Practice.
In addition to being a Board Certified Family Physician, Dr. Papadopoulos is a licensed Medical Acupuncturist through the State Board of Medical Examiners. He studied Medical Acupuncture at the Helms Medical Institute based in Berkeley, California. He is also Board Certified in Integrative Medicine, which is a new medical specialty focusing on the “whole person,” including the Physical, Mental/Emotional, and Spiritual aspects. In Integrative Medicine there is a partnership between patient and practitioner in the healing process. We use both conventional and alternative methods to facilitate the body’s innate healing response. Our philosophy neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically. We recognize that good medicine should be based in good science, but open to new paradigms (from the definition of Integrative Medicine by Dr. Andrew Weil).
